Kent Bat Group cares for and rehabilitates sick and injured bats, with the aim of returning them to their roosts.
Many bats are rescued during their active period. Some have been injured by cats, others are found starving when bad weather means that they are unable to fly regularly to feed and some young bats don't always get it right on their first flight and can be found 'grounded', literally on the floor or trapped in odd places when they get lost. Funds raised by KBG go towards the costs of rescuing these animals.
There is a dedicated KBG flight cage at Wildwood where recovering bats can be prepared for release.
Bat care requires the use of specialist equipment and resources to provide the correct care to bats, helping them to recover and be released.
